It's Fall Y'all

Not much to report on the comings and goings around the Yaeger household lately. We are all working entirely too much with little time for play. Is anyone else as excited as I am for the return of Glee? I'm a total Gleek and Ron's right by my side. If you've never seen this show, you're missing out. I wish my life was a musical... ok, back to my post. Our main focus is Grant and keeping him happy and fed. Let me tell you, this boy has an appetite. It blows us away, how much food he can put down!

Our latest adventures with spaghetti... After Grant was done eating his new favorite dish he had even more fun playing with it. There was spaghetti sauce over every inch and crevice of his high chair and also within a four foot perimeter of the chair. That was fun to clean.

Caught this guy out of the corner of my eye the other night while standing in my kitchen. I yelled for Ron, grabbed my camera and took this through our window. Bambi didn't stay long at the Yaeger Casa, she had other plans for her evening. The night before Ron went outside to take the trash out and there was an armadillo in our driveway! Wish I had a photo of that funny creature!
I've slowly started decorating for Halloween! We have a pet crow on our dining room table this year. I thought if Pottery Barn can do it, so can I! Here's a fun fall idea, I purchased Halloween scrapbook paper from the local craft store and cut strips according to the sizes of my candles. I then wrapped the paper around the candle and secured it with straight pins. Tada! I know my crafty friend Kim will be so proud! :)

I hope you are all enjoying cooler weather because we are NOT! At least, not yet. It's still very hot and humid here in the deep south. Well, that's all I got for ya, thanks for reading!

Happy Birthday Bev!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful sis Beverly! Today we shall celebrate you for the wonderful sister, aunt and best friend you are. Beverly is completely selfless, giving of herself to the greater good. She is a peace corps veteran, a tarheel born and bred and is currently in the thick of her OBGYN residency. She just recently spent one month in Ghana, a fellowship she was granted from the hospital she works for in Philadelphia. The group she traveled with performed 120 surgeries while in Ghana and delivered countless babes. I am so proud of you Beverly for all of your hardwork and I thank you for being the best big sister a girl could ask for. We hope you have the best birthday ever!

I Love You Through and Through

That's the title of one of Grant and I's favorite children's books. I was reading it to him the other day and couldn't help but notice the resemblence of the character in the book to Grant. What do you think?

Grant vs. Shoes

I thought today would be the perfect day for Grant to wear his new shoes to school. I have really and I mean REALLY spoiled my child this summer by allowing him to be a barefoot babe. I pulled out his socks, put on the shoes which was a job in itself and exclaimed excitedly, "Look Grant, You have new shoes!" Grant was immediately furious! He acted like I had tied 10lb. weights to his ankles, he was instantly immobile. He just sat looking pathetic and cried and cried. In the end, Grant won his battle against the keds...

Let the tantrums begin.

12 Month Update and Beach Trip

I apologize for my obvious lack of posts lately but I guess you could say that life has gotten away from us. The day to day routine of life with baby and balancing careers has kept us busy. My Mom has been staying with us for two weeks now, since Grant's party and she sadly left this morning. It has been so nice having her around and having the extra help around the house and with my very active one year old! I wanted to quickly report on Grant's growth. He had his 12 month checkup earlier this week and weighed in at 20 pounds and 32 inches, (95th percentile for height.) He is eating three meals a day now with two snacks inbetween. His favorites are eggs, strawberries, steamed broccoli and noodles. He enjoys his sippy cup throughout the day and is doing great on his transition into whole milk. Goodbye formula! He loves facing forward now in his carseat and can crawl up our stairs all by himself. He now can clearly pronounce six words they are: byebye, momma, da da, ba ba for bottle, ball and uh oh which he uses in the appropriate tense, it's quite hillarious. He loves being around children and is currently working on three more teeth, his bottom two and other top tooth. Grant is very outgoing and always greets passerbys with a smile and wave, he also loves to tell everyone bye upon his departure leaving a room or going to bed at night. He is the sweetest boy, he loves music and loves to dance and continues to keep us busy and thankful for all of our blessings. That's that for the twelve month update.

Now onto our visit to the beach yesterday. We drove to Gulf Shores for a little fun in the sun and also because I wanted to enjoy the beach before the weather got any cooler. It's hard to believe but Ron and I have not gone to the beach since Grant was six months old and we live only an hour away. We have good excuses though, number one being the oil spill that kept many at bay for numerous weeks. Number two being going to the beach if only for a few hours with Grant is near impossible especially in the blistering heat. We enjoyed the day though and there was no trace of any oil, an obvious blessing for many! We all went swimming, played in the sand and I got a little color on my pasty skin!

More Family Fun

As with all of our family gatherings, I took several hundred photos. This last visit was no different. I wanted to share with you all some of my favorites of our family fun or as my mother-in-law likes to call it, FFF. Forced Family Fun. I consider myself very lucky that my family and Ron's family get along so wonderfully. Being so far away from our loved ones, they are literally forced to see eachother very often and to the amazement of my friends they enjoy their time together. Yes, we are very lucky to both come from such wonderfully loving and welcoming families. Thank you to all of my family for coming down to spend Grant's birthday week with us and for all the tremedous support and help in preparation of Grant's first birthday party, we couldn't have done it without you!
