Corn Maze

Last weekend, we took Grant to the Corn Maze in Loxley for some outdoor fall fun.  They had tons of activities for kids and Grant had a blast!  He got to see some shiny new tractors...

Dress Up

Last Thursday night, Ron and I attended the Black Widows Halloween Ball benefiting local charity, The Lighthouse.  It was a costume party of course and after much discussion and debate we decided to go as Santa and his elf.  Ron borrowed the Santa costume from his father.  It has become a staple in the Yaeger household on Christmas Eve and I just "threw a bunch of stuff together" and hoped I looked somewhat like Santa's elf and not just an overly festive holiday housewife...

We had a great time playing dress up with our friends the Colemans, otherwise known as Storm Trooper and Tropicana Fruit Lady.

Allison was a flight attendant and Kimmy a flapper.  The party was outdoors and we were all a little chilly!

Can you pick out our dates?  The Halloween party was a blast, it was nice to have a fun night out with great friends!

Firetruck!

Spanish Fort's Fire Department held Open House today, the public was free to come visit the fire station and children were able to play on the big Firetrucks!  Grant who at the moment is really into firetrucks as well as pirates, ;) was excited to get up close and personal with the firetrucks he regularly sees going up and down the highway and to whom he exclaims, "Nee Nor, Nee Nor."  It took him a minute to warm up to the idea, at first he wanted to be held and stated they were "scary."

and in case you're wondering what Grant is toting around in every picture, meet "Fireman Guy."  Grant has a handfull of action figures he calls "guys" so this one is named similarly.  I picked him up for 10 cents at a yard sale before our excursion and Grant walked up to every Firefighter at the event, held out his Fireman Guy and said, "LOOK!"

Sesame Street Birthday Bash

Ron took Grant to a Sesame Street themed First Birthday Bash for Miss Camden Grace last weekend.  I worked the Baldwin County Parade of Homes so I was grateful that Ron had such a fun activity to enjoy with my boy.  This birthday party was ah-mazing.  There was no detail that went undone.  My friends, Jenna, Lindsay and their Mother did a fabulous job planning such a spectacular party for the princess in their lives.  I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...

Elmo and Mickey Mouse made an appearance.  Ron said that when they left Grant waved and said, "Bye Elmo, Bye Bye Mickey Mouse!"

This picture truly does not do the favor buckets justice.  Elmo's face was personally painted on each bucket and inside were crayons, coloring books, bubbles and hand knitted Elmo hats which are adorable!

Pirates and Princesses

Grant is really into Pirates.  Don't really know how this evolution took place other than I just recently let him start watching the Disney Channel and there is a show on there called, "Jake and the Neverland Pirates."  Now with Halloween around the corner and Captain Morgan commercials on constantly,  pirates are suddenly everywhere.  Grant says, "AARRRRGGHHHH Matey!  "I A PIRATE!"  The other night Chic-Fil-A hosted a Pirates and Princesses event and I couldn't resist taking my little Pirate to partake in the fun.  We met Emma and Luke out there and jumped in bounce houses, watched horse and carriage rides for all the pretty princesses, fed goats (random, I know) and devoured some yummy chicken and ice cream.  Grant had a ball!

NOLA

The Yaeger's are early risers.  Example, at 8am when Ron, Grant and I walked close to 10 blocks to meet up with Jim and Jody they had been awake since 5:40am and had spent hours already exploring New Orleans.  This came in handy when it came time to snatch up a table at the famous Cafe Du Monde. Our table was right up front so we could see everything going on on Decatur Street.  Artists setting up their paintings to sell that day, fortune tellers setting up their card tables, the horse and carriages arriving and preparing for tours.  There was a lot of activity and I ate it up... as well as those famous beignets.

We were all excited for what the day had in store for us, after all, we got a very early start!

Grant got a haircut on my birthday and since I can't help but think, he looks even more grown up.  Just look at that face!

After eating our second breakfast at Stanley's we took a horse and carriage ride around downtown New Orleans.  Grant loved the mules!

Boy, was this a treat.  Grant's first trip to an aquarium.  He freaked out!  You know the expression, "Like a kid in a candy store?"  In my case it's, "Like a kid in an aquarium."  He exclaimed upon walking in, "A FISH, A FISH!  ANOTHER ONE, ANOTHER ONE!  WHOA, WOW!"  We all delighted in his excitement and said that the trip to the aquarium was worth every penny spent to see the joy on his face. 

A humongous fish swam up beside Grant in this tank and scared him to death, he jumped, startled and then died laughing.

This is take #2 on this photo.  We didn't quite capture the school of fish the first time and waited for them to swim back by.  The tank was amazing!  It was filled with various sharks and sting rays.

We spent the rest of the afternoon shopping on Magazine Street, eating at Willy Mae's as seen on the Food Network's "Diners Drive-Ins and Dives" and exploring the city.  We had a great time and it was the perfect birthday weekend getaway!

We came back Saturday so I could partake in the Baldwin County Home Builders Association Parade of Homes.  I held a Model Home open while Grant and the crew took naps and rested up from our trip.  Later that evening, we took Jim and Jody to one of our favorite spots in Fairhope, Fly Creek Cafe.  We enjoyed a great band, good food, a gorgeous sunset and Grant played in the sand with some pretty girls. 

It was the perfect weekend.  Just Fabulous.  I wouldn't mind watching this every night...
