19 Weeks

Well, there it is ladies and gentlemen, "le bump." So this picture was taken this past weekend at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA. Ron's family from NC and IL and my folks came down to visit for Easter. We stayed in a villa and enjoyed having a few days together. Callaway Gardens has this awesome butterfly center where butterflies from all over the world fly around in this huge atrium. Lucky me, I had one land in my hand and stay for awhile, and after a few moments a second butterfly landed there as well! If you click on this photo you can enlarge it to get a better look at the butterflies, it was truely amazing! I thought this picture would have been a closeup of my hand and sure enough le bump was captured in all its glory. I guess that's my natural stance. whoa.
As far as the pregnancy goes... little Grant has been moving around a bit but unfortunately, I'm the only one who has felt the little booger! Ron's always a second too late. I have felt him kick once and move around a couple of other times. I'm hoping that soon the movements will become more consistent so Ron doesn't think I'm making it all up! I've just recently started having some backpain and I'm currently looking for a good prenatal yoga dvd to help ease the aches. Other than that, we are having a blast preparing for this little boy's arrival. I have picked out furniture and crib bedding which I will post at a later date. On Wednesday of this week, I'll be halfway there, 20 weeks!

It's A Boy!

Introducing, Grant Fitzgerald Yaeger! Ron and I went for our first ultrasound apointment yesterday and we are so thankful to be expecting a healthy baby boy. The babies heartbeat had slowed to 146 BPM and is sitting VERY low. With these two pieces of information in mind, I made a last minute guess, boy. I was right! Ron's jaw dropped to the floor, I think he's still on cloud nine. While there, the ultrasound technician checked around 200 body parts and checked for abnormalities before even letting us see Grant on the screen, talk about nerve racking! We are thrilled to have a baby to carry out the Yaeger name, Ron was the last. As for the name... Ron and I were in Montgomery a couple of weekends ago and went to a baby store called Storkland. While I browsed, Ron flipped through a baby name book. He came across the name Grant and read that it made great first impressions and was considered a "strong" name. He asked what I thought and I loved it, the name was born. It's awfully hard to pick a middle name for Grant. After much consideration we decided to use my maternal grandmother's maiden name, Fitzgerald. My entire life, people have told me that I'm just like her and we were extremely close, I feel very proud to have my first born carry out her name and plus I think it just sounds cool. Ha, I admit it!

17 Weeks

Ron and I traveled to Greenville, SC for a wedding this weekend. Ron's roommate from his last deployment got married last night and we enjoyed a weekend away from it all! We stayed at the Westin in downtown Greenville and had a great time exploring the city in the rain! Ron had a great time reuniting with old Marine Corps buddies, the groom John, is an aspiring politician and hopes to become President one day! Time really seems to be flying by, at one point this wedding seemed like forever away and now it has come and gone.

I'm enjoying being "noticeably" pregnant now. I had my first stranger acknowledge my pregnancy last week. I asked to use the restroom in a jewelry store and the owner said, "Of course, I know how moms-to-be are!" At this point in the pregnancy I'm dying to feel the first fetal movement. I ask the baby daily to come on already and kick me! Ron and I are sooo excited for tomorrow's ultrasound. It will be our first and we'll find out the sex of the baby! Neither one of us has strong feelings about the gender, we have no clue what to expect, but we are finally agreeing on names... to be continued!

15 Weeks!

Well Folks, I'm officially showing! I had my 14 doctor's appointment on March 5th and heard the babies heart beat again. It had slowed to 150 BPM and my doctor said I was, "blossoming. " Ha! We will officially find out the sex of the baby on Monday, March 30th at 3pm. I can't wait! 15 days to go. My parents came to visit Ron and I this weekend in Auburn and my Mom and I had the best time shopping around for baby stuff. There really is not a lot of "gender neutral" clothing out there. EVERYTHING is pink or blue, I can't imagine not finding out and planning for a surprise. The past couple of weeks have been a breeze. No real cravings or diversions to food although I did get nauseas last night after eating a lot of soy sauce. For now, we are just so excited to be expecting and we're having a great time daydreaming about when our little one arrives!

13 Weeks
I'm finally beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel! The first trimester was pretty rough considering I did not suffer from morning sickness. I was extremely tired and cranky 90% of the my days. Last week I started to feel better and now I feel like I'm back to my old self again! I am starting to have a little "pooch." My pants are officially supported now by a bella band and yesterday I wore my first pair of maternity pants to work! This picture was taken yesterday and this outfit was so comfortable, I felt like I had pajamas on all day! Did I mention I can't wait to have my hair colored! Reality is setting in with Ron and I that we will soon be parents. We have been recently discussing baby names... mostly disagreeing on baby names! I have become obsessed with searching for nursery furniture and crib bedding online. Brooke introduced me to a custom bedding website out of Fairhope, AL, www.javisdavis.com. This is most likely where I will purchase the baby's crib bedding from. Their website is amazing. You can virtually create the bedding to your likeness and play around with the different fabric groupings. I'm also leaning toward furniture from Babies-R-Us or JCPenney. I'm trying to be pratical, I know babies are expensive! For now, I'm trying not to eat everything in sight and eat well balanced meals and plenty of fruits and veggies. No real cravings lately, just milk, mostly chocolate milk! Pregnancy has been fun so far and I know the best is yet to come!

10 Week Update

Ron and I went for my 10 week appointment on February 5th. We were fortunate enough to hear our baby's heart beat! I was nervous before the appointment about the possibility of the doctor not being able to hear it or locate it but sure enough, they found it immediately! What a relief! The baby's heart beat was 166 BPM, which everyone has been telling me is fast and usually means, it's a girl. The next day I flew to Greenville, NC for my friend Lauren's baby shower and I took this opportunity with my girlfriends to officially spill the beans about my pregnancy. Everyone was so surprised and it was great being able to tell all the girls in person. Everyone's encouragement and well wishes have been so wonderful, we have a lot to look forward to and we are incredibly blessed!
