According to Grant

This is a collection of cute sayings Grant has recently stated:

"Good morning Grant, How did you sleep last night?"

"I dreamed."

"Oh really, what did you dream about?"

"Mimi."

"What did you and Mimi do?"

"We were on a pirate ship!"

 One morning, I was getting Grant ready to get into the car and go to preschool, I opened the garage door and he took one step outside and said,

"I need a coat!"

Yes sir.

When we get into the car and it's hot,

"I need air."

Grant has now shortened our name to simple, "Mom" and "Dad."

"Hey Dad, watcha doin'?"

"Mom, were'swegoin?"

This is Grant's dinosaur ROAR and face.  His favorite dinosaurs are, "T-Rex, T-tops and the BIG ONE with the LONG NECK!"

 Grant can now sing every word to "twinkle twinkle little star."  He requests twinkle twinkle every night before bedtime and that request is followed by, "Jesus."  I then sing him "Jesus Loves Me."  We're still working on the words to that one.  Then he requests "Sheep" which is Bah, Bah Black Sheep, Mommy is still working on the words to that one!  I get stuck after, "one for the butcher..." and the list goes on and on.  This boy is getting smart about prolonging his bedtime.

 I could not for the life of me get him to look at me when I was taking these photos, then, I started to sing his favorite song, twinkle twinkle, and BAM.  Great shot.  Genuine smile.  That's my boy who saves these smiles for his Mama.  I can't get over how BIG and TALL he is getting and how dark his hair has become.  It's all happening too fast.

 Asking Grant questions throughout the day has become entertaining.  He now replies, "I don't know!"  or when I tell him something he states, "What does that mean?"  Grant prepared a drink the other night for me at a friends house with her daughter's kitchen and teacup set.  He brought it over,

"Look Mom, I made you a drink!" 

Thank you Grant, what did you make me?

"Coffee."

Wise.  Very Wise.

Ramblings...

This post has no underlying theme, just a little of this and that and what we've been up to the past week.  A group of us surprised Kimmy at Felix's for her birthday last Sunday night.  She was shocked to say the least and Ron and I enjoyed a night out with friends!

Ron and I have been working hard the past two weeks at getting everything bought and put together for Grant's BIG BOY ROOM!  For those of you that follow me on Pinterest, you'll know where I'm going with the decor, if you want a sneak peek you can check out my pin board for Grant's room HERE.  I talked Ron into making his first venture into the world of IKEA last Saturday on a trip to Atlanta.  He did not disappoint and came back with the dresser I've been obsessed with and it was in a million little pieces.  After four hours he finally got it put together and I'm giddy with excitement over the outcome and overall storage that it offers.  Not to mention it was a GREAT price.

Batman is on the loose in our household.  I recently went through all of our hand-me-downs from family and found this pajama shirt with the Velcro cape to match and Grant is obsessed.  I try to hide it from him but it never fails, he asks to wear it constantly.  Yes, even to bed over his other pj's.

Grant has never seen a Batman Cartoon the only inkling of Batman he's ever been exposed to was a comic book that came out of the Honey Nut Cheerios box.  This particular night, Ron was giving him a bath with a royal blue washcloth and he asked Ron time and time again to drape the wet washcloth across his back like his batman cape.  Pretty smart, huh?  After the bath, of course, we had to put it back on...

Fast forward to the next morning, headboard put together- check, dresser put together-check.  We are well on our way and I cannot wait to share the outcome of his room with you all.  Grant's pretty excited about all the tools he's been introduced to as well lately.

Horsin' Around

Grant and I helped celebrate our neighbor, Maddie's 7th birthday on Saturday morning at May Day Park in Daphne.  Maddie had miniature horses and ponies at her party for all the kids to ride on.  Grant was a little more hesitant this time around than he was at the last birthday party we went to with these same horses.  Check out that entry HERE.  I had to literally force him upon Buttercup, the same horse he willingly road over and over again last March.  Grant was very excited about meeting the horses, I put on his cowboy boots and before we left the house that morning he wanted to know where his cowboy hat was?  Ummm... he doesn't own one!  Need to put that on the list.

May Day Park is on the Mobile Bay and absolutely beautiful place/park to visit.  Once Grant spotted the water he claimed, "I want to go to the water!"  "I want to cross the river."  I think he got that last quote from Dora.

 One of his favorite things to do, play in the water.  He threw several of the large rocks in and squealed with delight when they made a big splash!

 And at 23 weeks, I realize I have left you all in the dark regarding this pregnancy.  We have been blessed with another baby Boy!  James Henry Yaeger is kicking up a storm and has overall let me enjoy an easy pregnancy thus far.  We are thrilled to be welcoming a baby brother for Grant in May.  Meagan, Jackie, Courtney... this bump picture is for you, you can quit stalking!!  ;)

My parents gave me a new camcorder for Christmas and this is my first go at posting one of its videos.  It's a handheld Sony Bloggie and is seriously smaller than my cell phone.  Hello Convenience!  Enjoy the video of Grant's pony ride.

Run Ron Run!

For four months now, Ron has been training to run a marathon.  It has been such an undertaking and commitment and he finally completed his goal on Sunday!  The First Light Marathon was held in downtown Mobile and had just under 500 runners.  There were also hundreds more that competed in relays, 10k's and 5k's.  Ron placed #171 out of the 494 participants, not too shabby!

Ron Turns 30!

2011 was a special year.  Ron and I celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary on August 5th, I turned 29 on September 29th and Ron turned the big 3-0 on December 30th.  His birthday fell on the Friday after Christmas while we were still on vacay in NC so he and I decided to celebrate in a quiet way and get away, just the two of us.  We traveled once again to Primland Resort in Meadows of Dan, Virginia.  I blogged about our first visit there in detail HERE.  The place is amazing and a great way to escape.  This time around I enjoyed a day at their spa and was pampered head to toe while Grant stayed with Mimi and Poppy in Mt. Airy.

After our time away we celebrated Ron's Golden Year with his family and his favorite foods.  He requested his Dad's "Slow Joe Chili."  We all ate ourselves silly and then devoured the delicious red velvet cake Jody made for the birthday boy.

 Ron received several special gifts.  What a wonderful way to celebrate such a milestone year, with the ones you love!

Clinton Christmas

Monday after Christmas, we got back in the car and traveled to Clinton to see my family for a little Christmas cheer right around Grant's naptime.  He sure did enjoy the alligator pillow Mimi gave him for Christmas on all our car rides.

 Beverly was home from Philadelphia and Grant received all of Gaga, Papa and Aunt Bev's undivided attention during the duration of our visit!

 My Aunt Susan made a special visit from Raleigh to see our little family

 and Grant was surprised with a fire station from Gaga and Papa for Christmas.  He is in love with and it and has spent countless hours rearranging the furniture, and putting out fires!

 We spent a lot of time outside throwing sticks and pinecones in what was left of the lake.  They are experiencing a dry spell back home and the lake is extremely low.

 This was literally the second day Grant had worn these new shoes and the novelty of the new didn't last long.  He had the muddy within 5 minutes of playing near the lake!

 Aunt Jessi and Sammy came by for a visit and brought Grant a Christmas happy!

Our trip to Clinton was nice and relaxing.  We all enjoyed being together and having a couple of lazy days resting up after the holiday.  Grant always loves going to Gaga and Papa's house and always includes their dogs, Riley and Sally in the names of people he will visit there!

Christmas Afternoon

Christmas afternoon was spent, playing in the backyard with new toys, Grant and George tearing it up in the gator where Grant served as co-pilot and eating and drinking a. lot.

 Giving the baseball bat a go, Grant was quite the eye!

 and the cousins came over with all of their new technology, kindles, dss', laptops, etc...

 eventually, they all put their toys down and enjoyed some good old fashioned fun.  Jumping on Mimi's bed!  They managed to pull all the covers off themselves!

 They piled all the pillows on the floor and jumped off time and time again.

 Eventually, it all ended with a bloody nose for Grant and a couple of bite marks in Grant's lower lip.  It was a rough day for my little guy.  He played so hard and at the end of the day he had hurt himself on four seperate occassions trying to keep up with the big kids, but boy, they had a blast!
