Playroom Progress

I need to be pregnant at least once every two years.  Being pregnant is a HUGE deal but to me it means bringing total organization and revitalization to my surroundings, ie, my home before the baby comes.  My home gets the overhaul it desperately needs after taking a beating from a two-year-old and a busy life/work schedule.   My nesting instinct started early this go around and for the past few weeks I have been cleaning out, rearranging and getting rid of old furniture and redecorating like a ninja.  Martha Stewart is out and about in our household and can be spotted at least twice weekly in our local Michael's and Hobby Lobby.  We have primarily completed Grant's big boy room, I'm just waiting on a back ordered bedside table to arrive and also to find some decently priced wooden oars to paint.  We moved onto the playroom last weekend which brings me to my latest projects I wanted to share.
Grant pushed the lamp belows twin off an end table in early 2011, leaving this guy pretty lonely and getting the boot to the playroom a few months ago.  It clashed with pretty much everything up there so I knew a change was in order.
First, I spray painted the base silver which I don't have a picture of...
and then I covered the boring white lampshade with fabric that matches the curtains I recently made for the room.
All it took was a can of spray paint, a can of spray adhesive and a hot glue gun.
I took this lamp from drab to fab, it looks super cute and playful in our playroom.
I also spent one afternoon making curtains for the two playroom windows.  The room now looks lived in and adds so much personality to the bare walls.
I still don't have them at an ideal length.  I need to hem them up a bit, they're dragging the floor a little too much for my taste.
and here's a sneak peek of Grant's big boy room progress.  He loves playing in this under utilized (until now) space.  I made his window valance as well and I'm excited at how the room has turned out thus far.  I'll share pictures of everything when it's complete.
I hope you all have a relaxing weekend.  Gosh knows we all need it, I have a feeling there might be a few projects still to complete!
