13 Weeks
I'm finally beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel! The first trimester was pretty rough considering I did not suffer from morning sickness. I was extremely tired and cranky 90% of the my days. Last week I started to feel better and now I feel like I'm back to my old self again! I am starting to have a little "pooch." My pants are officially supported now by a bella band and yesterday I wore my first pair of maternity pants to work! This picture was taken yesterday and this outfit was so comfortable, I felt like I had pajamas on all day! Did I mention I can't wait to have my hair colored! Reality is setting in with Ron and I that we will soon be parents. We have been recently discussing baby names... mostly disagreeing on baby names! I have become obsessed with searching for nursery furniture and crib bedding online. Brooke introduced me to a custom bedding website out of Fairhope, AL, www.javisdavis.com. This is most likely where I will purchase the baby's crib bedding from. Their website is amazing. You can virtually create the bedding to your likeness and play around with the different fabric groupings. I'm also leaning toward furniture from Babies-R-Us or JCPenney. I'm trying to be pratical, I know babies are expensive! For now, I'm trying not to eat everything in sight and eat well balanced meals and plenty of fruits and veggies. No real cravings lately, just milk, mostly chocolate milk! Pregnancy has been fun so far and I know the best is yet to come!

10 Week Update

Ron and I went for my 10 week appointment on February 5th. We were fortunate enough to hear our baby's heart beat! I was nervous before the appointment about the possibility of the doctor not being able to hear it or locate it but sure enough, they found it immediately! What a relief! The baby's heart beat was 166 BPM, which everyone has been telling me is fast and usually means, it's a girl. The next day I flew to Greenville, NC for my friend Lauren's baby shower and I took this opportunity with my girlfriends to officially spill the beans about my pregnancy. Everyone was so surprised and it was great being able to tell all the girls in person. Everyone's encouragement and well wishes have been so wonderful, we have a lot to look forward to and we are incredibly blessed!

Symptom Talk

This pregnancy has drained all of my energy! I do not feel like Jena! Did I mention that I have to use the bathroom constantly? This past week I have not been able to sleep because I get up to use the bathroom about 5 times each night! So far, no morning sickness or nausea. I hope that passes me by all together. I also have mild cramping each night which I have been told this is my uterus stretching and making room for the baby. Other than the chronic fatigue I don't really feel pregnant. I looked up online the size of the baby and right now it's the size of a sweet pea. Next week, it's a blueberry! I have been doing a lot of research on what's going on with my body, the baby's development and also what foods I need and also which to stay away from. My intuition and the chinese gender chart tell me it's a girl. We'll see!

Six Weeks and Counting...

Secrets, secrets are no fun... I had my first official Doctor's appointment last Thursday, January 8th. My doctor here in Auburn is Dr. Golden of Lee OBGYN. He has been practicing in Auburn for 21 years and seems very easy going and personable. My first appointment consisted of confirming the pregnancy and taking blood to tell my blood count, blood type and to check it for Rubella. I then had a consultation with the Doctor and he went over what to expect in the coming months. My biggest concern was the awful cold I had and not being able to take any medication! I have another appointment scheduled for February 5th, I'll be 1o weeks. The next day I'm flying to Greenville, NC for Lauren's baby shower and this is when I'm going to tell my friends I'm pregnant! I hope the time flies by till then! Unfortunately, my first ultrasound will not be until I'm about 16-18 weeks. Ron and I are still undecided about whether or not we are going to find out the sex of the baby. I don't think either one of us will be able to stand it! Stay tuned!

Surprise! We're Expecting!

The best Christmas blessing we could of asked for...

On Christmas Eve, Ron and I found out that we were going to be parents! We were thrilled and it made it that much more special to find out on the same day that we got engaged three years prior! We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with Ron's parents in Mt. Airy, NC. Needless to say it was hard for us to keep our new found joy a secret for long. We gave in and actually told his parents that night! They were shocked but were cautious because it was so early. Jody is excited about getting started sewing again for another grand child and has already told me to pick out a christening gown patern. Even though Ron's grandparents were with us for Christmas we did not tell them. It's still a secret to most. As most of you know, I talk with my mother several times a day and I can't imagine keeping this from her so we told my parents the following Monday night on the phone. Our baby will be their first grandchild so of course, my mom was screaming and they both couldn't be happier! For now, Ron and I are having to keep this exciting news to ourselves until we feel it's safe to share the news with everyone. I decided to start this blog so those closest to me can keep up with our pregnancy being that we are so far away from our loved ones. I look forward to sharing this journey with you as we prepare for Baby Yaeger in 2009!
