Our precious boy turned two months old last Sunday the 25th. It's hard to believe how much Grant has grown and changed in the short amount of time we have known him. He is growing more and more animated everyday and we are starting to see his little personality develop. I took Grant to the pediatrician this morning for his two month checkup and vaccinations. He now weighs 10 pounds and 14 ounces and is 23 inches long. He received a good bill of health from the doctor and he's doing okay post shots. Grant is sleeping very well at night and is an overall GOOD baby. I put him down between 9:30 and 10pm at night and he doesn't wake for his first feeding until 3:30-4am. Last night he even slept until 4:45am and he goes right back down after his feedings. My current goal is trying to get him to go down without being swaddled. Last night was the first time I tried not swaddling him and he startled himself awake after about 15 minutes of sleep. Grant enjoys daily conversations with Ron and I. We ask him questions, wait for his reply and then ask some more. He's cooing up a storm and seems fascinated by the mouth and how it works. We also try to read to him every chance we get and describe things around the house in great detail when we carry him around. I read that learning for infants starts around seven weeks so I'm hoping to help his development along by exposing him to a vast vocabulary early. Grant also recognizes our voices. It's amazing for me to walk into the room when someone else is holding him and when he hears my voice he immediately turns in my direction. Ron and I lie him in the bed between us at night and he turns his head back and forth between the two of us depending on who's talking to him. He also has the best smile and is not afraid to show it. I'm loving getting to know my little one more and more everyday and never thought I could love something so much. So far motherhood has been the most rewarding experience. Grant is a true blessing and I can't imagine life without him. I look forward to all to come!
He's becoming too big for his cradle and for his britches!
Thanks for sharing Jena! I teared up because I know what you mean... and isn't it crazy to think that your love for them gets stronger. Being a mom is no easy job, but it couldn't be more rewarding. I am so excited for you to hit 3 months.. it's like they just WAKE UP and really notice the world for the first time. :-) I waited until I saw her reflex disappear at about 3 months to stop swaddling her and it only took a couple days. I am sure Grant will be a champ at it when his body will behave itself. :-)
