13 Months

Sorry I've been a bad blogger once again... I've been without my wireless internet card for a week now and I'm finally catching up on what's going on in cyberspace outside of the day to day emails/facebooking I do from my phone. I thought I would use this post to celebrate Grant turning 13 months. Should I even continue to count his age in terms of months or do I just officially have a one year old? Either way, I'll continue to use the blog as a way to document my little ones development each month. Grant is gaining more and more independence daily and has become very good at letting me know what he likes and what he dislikes. For instance, I was trying to give him Gerber's 3rd foods, broccoli and carrots tonight. After two bites he started crying and craning his neck far far away when I picked up the spoon to offer it to him. I put the spoon down and pushed it away. Crying ceased... smart cookie! He hates the 3rd foods by the way, I think it's the way they mix multiple vegetable/meat flavors together. Grant is not a fan. Grant now has five teeth and is working on his sixth, they sure did come in fast and furious. There were a couple of weeks that my little man awoke several times during the night, I blame the teething. Grant has added the word, balloon to his vocabulary. I received a bunch of balloons for my birthday last week and Grant thought those balloons were the best thing ever. All the grocery stores around here also have collegiate balloons up and down the aisles, Grant becomes very vocal upon entering the grocery store screaming with delight and yelling, "Balloon, balloon," which he pronounces, bayoon! Grant is now standing independently but has yet to take his first steps. He also loves to dance, he stomps his feet, sways back and forth and loves music. Grant runs his fingers through my hair when he wants to cuddle or is tired which I love more than anything. He still is a great sleeper, our nighttime routine consists of dinner, a bath, pajamas, a book and then a bottle, (yes, we haven't given this up yet but it is a bottle of whole milk.) We then put Grant in his crib, he stands up and waves at us and says, "Bye!" and lays down. I have said repeatedly, bedtime should not be this easy. I don't think we'll be quite so lucky the next go around. Grant continues to be the biggest joy and we are blessed in so many ways!

Watching Dada mow the grass before bedtime
Grant recently spent the day with his buddy Luke while Daddy went to an Alabama game and Mommy had to work. You can read all about his adventurous day with the Lowery clan at: www.loweryclan.blogspot.com Thank you Laurie!
I wish I slept this well
Watching cartoons with his buddy Aiden, Grant is ready for a nap, can you tell?
Grant going bonkers over my birthday balloons
Ron recently attended a local high schools homecoming parade where he caught several mardi gras beads. He brought them home to Grant and Grant had the best time putting those beads around his neck and then taking them off. He repeated the process several times and they are now one of his favorite play things!
Grant coloring his Great Grandmother Wendt a Birthday Card, he is so artistic!
