Adventures in Cornhole

Grant has really become a big fan of the outdoors lately. With the wonderful weather we have been spending more time outside with our little one. One of his favorite things to do is immediately scoot over to my potted plants and try to pick every vine and flower off which is very frustrating to me being I've discovered my green thumb as of late. He's all boy and into everything!

Working on walking with Dada

Grant also loves cornhole! We were given this awesome set by Ron's Father, Jim. Grant loves tossing the bean bags into the hole.

If we can't tailgate with the rest of our ECU Pirate Fans, we'll tailgate in our driveway!

"Where did the beanbag go?"

"Yay! I made it in!"

"Let's try this again"... and again... and again... Grant now cries when we take him inside.

Meagan and Bo tie the knot!

Meet Meagan...
Meagan was my roommate in college and is a lifetime friend! We have had some fun times together... oh, yes we have!
Last Saturday Meagan got married.
Meet Bo...
I've known Bo my entire life. We grew up together and my Mom even taught him in preschool, I was not the one that introduced these two. Small world, huh?
I unfortunately was not able to be there for Meagan and Bo on their big day. I was supposed to be the greeter at Meagan and Bo's wedding in Raleigh, NC the weekend after Brittany got hitched. Due to work dilemas and scheduling conflicts I was not able to make the trip to see my college roomie tie the knot. Alas, Meagan, an avid reader of the good ole' blog is not forgotten. I wanted to highlight her nuptuials even though I was not there to participate in this...
"When You Love an Alpha Delta, You're a very special boy..." the song that every last one of us has had sung to her on their big day.
Meagan and Bo, I wish you the very best and know that one of your biggest fans was in Alabama working and very upset about missing the biggest day of your lives. Boohoohoo!!!
Love you both and best wishes!

The Little Gym

I was delighted when Ron called me last week to inform me that he had signed Grant up for gymnastics and also a little jealous that I had not thought of it myself! Grant attended his first gymnastics class on Saturday at The Little Gym. He is in the "birds" class and he had a wonderful time exploring the equipment, singing, playing with chopsticks and bubbles. It was also the first time he had participated in any kind of organized activity where he had to sit in a circle and "listen" as instructions were given. He LOVED his first class and it was a fun activity for us to do together as a family. We signed Grant up for gymnastics for the remainder of the semester and Ron looks forward to taking him every Saturday morning. Of course, I'll accompany them when I don't have to work... Enjoy the pictures of my little acrobat!
Learning to "bear crawl" and getting Daddy in on the fun!

Time to tumble with Grant's teacher, Ms. Jennifer
Nice job, Grant!
Anything that brings this smile to Grant's face, sign me up!
"This is so much fun!"
Peek-a-boo Daddy!
Bubble Time, Grant exclaimed, "Ohhh, oohhhh!"

New Grant Videos

Here's the latest Grant videos. The first is of Grant trying to stand independently in the bathtub for the first time. He was so proud of himself and I was as well!

The is just the day to day shananighans we go through before bedtime. Enjoy the footage of my crazy little boy!

This was taken when I played back the music from the previous night's episode of Glee. Grant loved the music and he loves to dance as you can see in this video!

Grant Visits the Atlantic

In the middle of all the craziness surrounding the comings and goings of being in a wedding we were able to take some time out and enjoy Atlantic Beach with Grant! Grant has now swam in the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean! The weather was unseasonably warm for October and Grant loved playing in the sand. He had all of us rolling with laughter because he stuck his tongue out the entire time we were at the beach! I don't know if it was the salt taste of the ocean water or the sand on his face but he couldn't get enough of this new taste. Enjoy the pictures of our beautiful day spent on the beach with our little puppy dog! :)

Grant wanted to put everything in his mouth, the shells and fistfuls of sand!

Brit Gets Hitched!

My best bud Brit got married this past Saturday in Atlantic Beach, NC. Ron, Grant and I got up very early Friday morning (3:30am) and flew out of Pensacola at 6am. Why oh, why do I continue to book 6am flights? Guess I'll never learn... We arrived in New Bern, NC at 10:30am and were picked up by my Mother and her brother Bobby. We then drove to Beaufort, NC for Brit's bridesmaids luncheon, which was in a beautiful home on the waterfront and arrived just in time for the 11:30am brunch. It was so wonderful being reunited with all of my best buds and catching up over the most yummy foods! Here I am with the Bride-to-Be!
I was famished after all of the traveling and loaded up on all of this good stuff!
Shelley, Carmel, Ginger and Brooke enjoying the beautiful day and mimosas!
Group shot of all the bridesmaids and honorary bridesmaids
The gorgeous house where the luncheon was held
Brittany and I before the rehearsal on the beach
The rehearsal, the bride and groom practicing leaving the ceremony
After the rehearsal Ginger, Carmel and I stopped by the hotel to pick up Ron before the dinner and grabbed Grant for a photo in front of the beautiful sunset!
The girls at the rehearsal dinner. The power in the whole town actually went out right after the dinner started! The power was out for two hours during the party and this picture was taken in the dark! Brit was a trooper and didn't let the nights events ruin her evening. We all carried on by way of candlelight while the cooks scrambled to prepare our dinner without electricity. In the end the power came back on and we enjoyed a lovely but unforgetable evening!
What gorgeous weather awaited us! You would of thought it was June, the beach was perfect and we all enjoyed getting a suntan before the wedding! We haven't taken a picture like this on the beach since college!
Brittany did not enjoy all of the attention on her wedding day. She is not one to enjoy the spotlight. We showered her with compliments and she told all of us to "stop it!" This was her face after putting on her dress and being emabarassed at the display of affection!
Cute sign pointing guest in the right directionThe beautiful bride and her father before the ceremony
Brittany and I. So glad I could be there for her and Drew on their special day!
The bridesmaids photo shoot before the ceremony
This is the "fun" pose. I never quite know what to do for these, you end up feeling cheesey either way but they turned out great!
And after the event filled weekend my camera died.
Worst nightmare. I was able to get enough "juice" to snap this single shot at the reception with my friend Melissa and Grant. I have lots of friends who will hopefully share their photos of the night with me but overall the wedding weekend was fabulous! Ron and I throughly enjoyed our mini vacation to coastal North Carolina and enjoyed seeing so many friends and our families! Of course the weekend flew by and now we're looking forward to our next trip home!
Thanks for a wonderful weekend Brit, Love you bunches!

13 Months

Sorry I've been a bad blogger once again... I've been without my wireless internet card for a week now and I'm finally catching up on what's going on in cyberspace outside of the day to day emails/facebooking I do from my phone. I thought I would use this post to celebrate Grant turning 13 months. Should I even continue to count his age in terms of months or do I just officially have a one year old? Either way, I'll continue to use the blog as a way to document my little ones development each month. Grant is gaining more and more independence daily and has become very good at letting me know what he likes and what he dislikes. For instance, I was trying to give him Gerber's 3rd foods, broccoli and carrots tonight. After two bites he started crying and craning his neck far far away when I picked up the spoon to offer it to him. I put the spoon down and pushed it away. Crying ceased... smart cookie! He hates the 3rd foods by the way, I think it's the way they mix multiple vegetable/meat flavors together. Grant is not a fan. Grant now has five teeth and is working on his sixth, they sure did come in fast and furious. There were a couple of weeks that my little man awoke several times during the night, I blame the teething. Grant has added the word, balloon to his vocabulary. I received a bunch of balloons for my birthday last week and Grant thought those balloons were the best thing ever. All the grocery stores around here also have collegiate balloons up and down the aisles, Grant becomes very vocal upon entering the grocery store screaming with delight and yelling, "Balloon, balloon," which he pronounces, bayoon! Grant is now standing independently but has yet to take his first steps. He also loves to dance, he stomps his feet, sways back and forth and loves music. Grant runs his fingers through my hair when he wants to cuddle or is tired which I love more than anything. He still is a great sleeper, our nighttime routine consists of dinner, a bath, pajamas, a book and then a bottle, (yes, we haven't given this up yet but it is a bottle of whole milk.) We then put Grant in his crib, he stands up and waves at us and says, "Bye!" and lays down. I have said repeatedly, bedtime should not be this easy. I don't think we'll be quite so lucky the next go around. Grant continues to be the biggest joy and we are blessed in so many ways!

Watching Dada mow the grass before bedtime
Grant recently spent the day with his buddy Luke while Daddy went to an Alabama game and Mommy had to work. You can read all about his adventurous day with the Lowery clan at: www.loweryclan.blogspot.com Thank you Laurie!
I wish I slept this well
Watching cartoons with his buddy Aiden, Grant is ready for a nap, can you tell?
Grant going bonkers over my birthday balloons
Ron recently attended a local high schools homecoming parade where he caught several mardi gras beads. He brought them home to Grant and Grant had the best time putting those beads around his neck and then taking them off. He repeated the process several times and they are now one of his favorite play things!
Grant coloring his Great Grandmother Wendt a Birthday Card, he is so artistic!
